Chester Energy and Policy: Where Have I Been?
Having gone over three full months without a post to the Chester Energy and Policy blog with nary a public peep as to why to my faithful readers (hi fellow energy nerds, as well as my supportive friends and family!), I’ve been meaning to give a quick update post on the status of Chester Energy and Policy.
So first, hello and thank you for your patience! To break it down simply, I’ve been planning a major relocation for my family that brought with it some logistics to figure out career-wise. During this period of determining how that transition would work, I essentially wanted to go dark (save for some occasional, though certainly less frequent, Tweets to keep up with my friends on #EnergyTwitter) to evaluate the state of my blog (ChesterEnergyandPolicy.com), my company (Chester Energy and Policy LLC), and my career (me, Matt Chester!). With the support of my very accommodating employer, clients, and industry partners, I’ve been able to make this move from DC down to Florida, completing it earlier this month, in fact.
The move to the Sunshine State, specifically to Orlando, has been much anticipated for many personal and family reasons, but it will also open up a great amount of career opportunities. Not only will I be able to act as an on-the-ground expansion to Florida for my employer, but I will also be able to explore more opportunities to grow Chester Energy Policy in my free time in this new location (side note: perhaps the Chester Energy and Policy logo that crudely includes the Washington Monument must now be changed to something more Florida– does anyone know a good graphic designer?). I’m incredibly excited about this next step in life and career, and again I thank all of you who have been supporting of my writing, research, analysis, and other work in the energy space for helping make this a reality and prodding me as to when I’d get back to writing after this extended break.
Now that I’ve had a chance to share that news, I have some other updates to give– namely, what have I been up to while the blog was quiet and what can be expected from Chester Energy and Policy moving forward. Each of those questions will be answered in brief follow up posts later this week, so stay tuned!
