The International Energy Agency, or the IEA, is one of the most critical and respected organizations pushing for energy sustainability, reliability, and modernization on the global stage. From 2022 to 2023, Matt Chester of Chester Energy & Policy regularly worked with the IEA team behind the Digital Demand-Driven Electricity Networks (3DEN) Initiative (in partnership with Dr. Álvaro López-Peña) to inform IEA’s latest report: Unlocking Smart Grid Opportunities in Emerging Markets and Developing Economies

Specifically, Matt and Dr. Peña conducted market research and consulted with local industry experts to explore the digital technologies and surrounding policy/market frameworks that best enabled solar energy technologies to take hold in the developing economies of Brazil, South Africa, and India.
